
Marc Dufour

Marc began his career in civil and commercial litigation after being called to the Québec Bar in 1987. He went on to work in a large Montréal firm ⎻ which became pan-Canadian in the 90s ⎻ for more than 36 years. During his time there, he quickly developed an interest and a specialization in civil and professional liability as well as in disciplinary law.
Over the years, Marc has represented various professionals before all civil and administrative courts, as well as before disciplinary councils, such as the Tribunal des professions and disciplinary councils of professional orders. He has notably acted as lead counsel before the Superior Court of Québec, the Court of Appeal of Québec and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Marc joined Novalex in 2023, with the desire to share his expertise in disciplinary law for the benefit of professionals of all professional orders in Quebec.
Marc is regularly recognized within the legal industry and by his peers. Among his achievements, he has been featured in the Best Lawyers in Canada directory since 2012 as well as in the Lexpert directory both in 2021 and 2022.

ACTED as the lead counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada in a case which is now setting precedent, and which concerns the immunity from civil liability of health professionals in the context of care provided to a victim of an automobile accident: Godbout c. Pagé (2017) 1 RCS 283
