Departure of an important lady
It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our friend and colleague Élaine Zakaïb on October 1st, 2018.
During her long and successful career, Élaine was President and CEO of the Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ from 2004 to 2012 and Minister Delegate of the Industrial Policy and responsible of the Economic Development Bank of Quebec throughout Pauline Marois’ government between 2012 and 2014.
Her career has also been marked by her contribution to access to justice. We would like to emphasize that Élaine was one of the first lawyers to join us while NOVAlex was still in its start-up phase. To honour her memory, we will name our conference room in her name. The inauguration of the Élaine Zakaïb conference room will take place in the coming weeks.
Élaine has been an exemplary role model and mentor to us all. We cannot forget her desire to “build” as well as her contagious energy. In this regard, we said that she was always “the youngest” in our firm. Today, our thoughts are with her family and loved ones who have accompanied and supported her in this difficult ordeal.
