Montreal, December 20, 2021 – We are proud to announce the appointment of Azim Hussain, a partner at Novalex, as a judge of the Superior Court of Quebec.<\/p>\n

Justice Hussain’s professional background is that of a leading litigator, having practised for 18 years as a lawyer in the Montreal office of a leading international law firm before joining Novalex in 2020.<\/p>\n
His practice focused on civil and commercial litigation, commercial arbitration, and public and constitutional law. One of his areas of expertise is appellate litigation, particularly before the Supreme Court of Canada, where he has been involved in seven cases ranging from lawyers’ professional liability to constitutional issues arising under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. He has presented arguments before all levels of Quebec and Federal Courts and has represented clients before arbitral tribunals under the most important rules, such as the ICC, ICSID and UNCITRAL rules.<\/p>\n
A member of Novalex\u2019 executive committee up until his appointment, Justice Hussain has combined a very high level of performance with a rich family life and a significant societal impact, a large portion of his professional career having been devoted to facilitating access to justice, particularly in the context of public interest issues.<\/p>\n
